You may have noticed that all the cool kids are wearing these cute little woven kercheifs these days. I’ve decided that I need to be cool. Thus, the creation of my Onerva (Rav Link, my project page). It’s kinda not English, but there are some great project notes on Ravelry that I used to help me along-mainly from Needlediva (Rav link, her project page)

I knit it out of a DK single-ply silk on US9 needles, and it took me just over 2 weeks. I’m really proud of myself and wear it quite a bit. And I immediately cast on for a new shawl, using the Milkweed pattern (rav link). It’s already done, but needs blocking before I post about it :)

A garter cable ribbed pair of mitts knit in a luxurious blend of merino and silk. Leaf detailing is featured on the back of the hand and provides the thumb gusset shaping.

Nathair Mitts are a soft and squishy pair of mitts with a centered cable going down the back of the hand. They feature a regular style thumb gusset, with mirrored increases on either side of the thumb, making a nice little area for your thumb to fit cozily.

I have a summer job! I’m working at the North Pacific Cannery Museum, and it is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Getting out there can be a bit eerie~The road is narrow, twisty-turny, with a lot of hills, somewhat like a roller coaster or (in the right light) the beginning of a horror movie. Being out there is fun. My coworkers are great and I get to hang out with visitors all day. I’m not very knowledgeable yet, but I’m working on that part.

On the knitting front, I finally have pics of my Awesomesauce Mitts. Yummy Malabrigo Worsted in Velvet Grapes and Pollen, knit on US 2 and 4 needles. Pattern is Elinor’s Mittens.

The yarn in my hands there is one of the yummy skeins of Mal that I won for knitting these mitts :) 5 skeins of worsted, in an unlabeled colorway.  I’m really excited and don’t know what to knit with it!  If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.

They are knit in yummy Malabrigo Worsted and there are 3 varieties to choose from–plain, with a contrast color or with offset ribbing.  If you are on Ravelry and decide to knit these mitts, come check out the KAL thread.  As soon as I can get my fiance out with a camera again, I’ll have some tutorials up for the increase stitches used for the thumb. .

Yeah, I suck at updating.  Sari.  Anywho, just a quick one to show off my wickedly awesome colorwork mittens, still a WIP.

Pattern is Elinor’s Mittens, yarn is yummy luscious Malabrigo Worsted. Knitting on US2 for the cuff and US4 for the hand. Making a super-cozy thick fabric and I’m loving them. Too bad I’m also looking for Spring.

Okay, seeing as it’s 6 degrees here (Celsius, so above freezing :p) I don’t really need to do that much to keep warm.

Doesn’t make the latest knitting any less luscious. First off, finished AGES ago and worn all winter, the Amanda Hat (original source), knit from yummy Malabrigo.

A couple of minor mods–I knit the initial lacy section a repeat shorter and moved that length to the top section, then knit a 1×1 rib the length of the bottom section and folded that under to make the hat double thick over my ears. I LOVE this Mal colorway–It’s called Stonechat and it makes me happy. It pooled a bit around the sides, but I can live with that.

And then I’ve got my SUPER-COZY-CRAZY-WARM-UNATTRACTIVE thrummed socks. They are lumpy, bumpy, fuzzy, fat and generally weird looking, but I LOVE them. I knit them as part of the KYS Thrum-a-Long and am pretty pleased with myself.

The yarn is my go-to for plain ole worsted wool, Diamond Yarn Galway and the red roving at the top was some leftover from my first (and only) yarn making attempt and the pink was handdyed for me by a fellow KYSwapper, Huggybear. You should check out her etsy shop, ’cause that roving was amazingly soft and pretty!

Firstly, and most importantly…

I’M ENGAGED! The awesomest BF ever proposed and now “BF” stands for Best Fiance :D

He proposed on New Years Eve and then I got the ring resized when I got back to Uni. Isn’t it pretty? We aren’t going to get married until after we are done school, but it’s still so exciting!

Secondly:
I haz chili. It is full of nom nom nomz. It is important to this post as it is the Official Comfort Food post for the blog-along-thingy in OT: FGF Insanity on Ravelry. Sadly, my suggestions of a “romantic themed AKA LET’S ALL TALK ABOUT KNITASAUR BEING ENGAGED” topic were overruled :p

Anywho, this is an awesome chili. It was in our slow cooker slowly torturing me all day. They want a recipe, but this is sorta a make-up-as-you-go-along type deal. Stir-fry beef and about a cup of milk in the slow cooker on very low for about an hour. Add in cans of tomato and beans (black and chickpea, in my case) and all sorts of spices (chili powder, garlic, oregano, bouillon cube, just a TOUCH of curry, pepper) and onion. Cook for many many hours. Add in LOTS of corn, some mixed veggies and potatoes and cook some more. Eat as much as you can and refrigerate the rest to continue eating for the rest of the week. Awesome stuff.

Yep, still alive. Hit finals at school then home for christmas. No camera, thus no real content, but yep, after more than a month, here’s a post letting to prove that I still, in fact, exist. Ciao :D

And, of course, BECAUSE so many people have already downloaded it and I was silly enough to not get it test-knit, there was a mistake :( Nothing major–I just missed an ENTIRE LINE. Luckily, SunflowerKnits knit one up super-quickly and let me know :D All of the download links have been uploaded, but if you don’t feel like downloading a new one, just add in another row to the end of the main pattern repeat–Row 10: P15, K1, P to end. (exactly like rows 6 &8)
